Description

OUR CITY – ON FILM! The £1000 Competition

Make a SHORT FILM and work with Bristol’s TV Industry

This session launches a new short film competition for Bristol’s young people that captures just what makes our city the most creative, rebellious, diverse and pioneering place to live and work.

It's taking place during the Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival, which is featuring the Channel 4 Random Acts project, and will provide complimentary tickets for the screening of Random Acts films made in the South West, and a panel session with Catherine Bray, Channel 4 Editor of Random Acts, running to 13.30.

Mayor Marvin Rees is working with the likes of Aardman Animations, A Productions, Icon Films, Plimsoll Productions and Tigress Productions to judge the best films, award a cash prize and work directly with the winners to build their skills and experience. They’ll be supported by community media organisations including Calling the Shots, Creative Youth Network, Knowle West Media Centre, Rife, Sharpshotz and Ujima.

This is the opportunity to show individual talent and work with professionals, and it could be the first step into the industry.

The film will be used by the Mayor and international broadcasters to show the world what a creative force we are.

So if you are a film-maker, work with creative young people or want to increase the engagement of your creative company, this competition is for you!

At the session we’ll screen some of the best 90-second films from the DepicT! project, mixed with stimulus talks, a film featuring the Mayor launching the competition, and introducing some of the organisations and teams that are already planning to work together.
